Emirates SkyCargo added another Boeing 777 freighter recently bringing its all-cargo fleet to 11.

Emirates took delivery of the aircraft on May 28 after landing at the Dubai World Central (DWC) from Seattle.

The carrier said the plane came with a full load of electronics, consumer goods, and general cargo.

"Our newest freighter adds welcome capacity to our operations, which have been running at full steam throughout the pandemic to serve our customers and keep global supply chains moving," commented Nabil Sultan, divisional senior vice president, of Emirates SkyCargo.

"We are scheduled to receive delivery of a second 777F in June. And in 2023 we will begin a programme to convert four passenger 777 aircraft into freighters and all of the converted aircraft will be re-delivered by the end of 2024," Sultan added.

The latest aircraft delivery is part of a US$1 billion worth of orders for new freighters placed in November 2021.

"These investments reflect our commitment to serving our customers with the best possible assets, as well as to enabling the movement of vital goods and trade flows through Dubai," Sultan further said.

The airline's fleet expansion comes after a record year for cargo revenues in the fiscal year 2021/2022.

Emirates SkyCargo reported that for the fiscal year ending March 31, the cargo carrier saw a 26.6% increase in revenue to AED21.6 billion (US$5.88 billion).

During the period, cargo volumes also rose 14.2% to 2.1 million tonnes compared to the year prior, albeit still lower than the 2.7 million tonnes seen in 2018/2019 before the pandemic.
