Raindo United Services, based in Indonesia's Banten province, is looking to launch freighter domestic and international freighter services in July.
The start-up cargo airlines will utilize two leased B737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) with a capacity of 23 tonnes each — equipped with Unit Loading Devices (ULD), oxygen tanks, and refrigerators to accommodate all types of commodities: perishable, general cargo, the marine product, dangerous goods and live animals.
Domestically, Raindo will serve Balikpapan, Jakarta, Makassar, Medan and Surabaya. It will serve Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Singapore for its international routes in Asia.
Bambang Sujatmiko, chief executive officer and co-founder of Raindo, said the scheduled air cargo transportation company received its business license on August 31, 2022. Meanwhile, reports said Raindo secured a standard certificate of domestic and foreign cargo scheduled for commercial air transport in December last year.
One-stop cargo service
Raindo noted that its presence marks "a new era" in the air logistics industry, providing a one-stop cargo service solution offering real-time tracking from the first to the last mile.
Benny Rustanto, Raindo United Services founder, said the presence of Raindo United Services is expected to be a "catalyst for a change" that can support the development of the MSME (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises) industry in Indonesia — particularly in the logistics side through seamless and sustainable connectivity.
"We realise that the MSME sector in Indonesia has greater potential if supported by a logistics ecosystem that synchronizes the traffic flow — both internationally and locally — from the point of departure to the destination," Rustanto said, adding that the "ecosystem" of Raindo would allow MSMEs to be more competitive by overcoming existing obstacles tied to high logistics costs, inefficient shipping processes, and limited access to distribution channels.
Raindo United Services said it has "various related strategic partners to ensure the overall operations and administration, ranging from Indonesia state-owned oil companies, the big four of financial and valuation consultants, the largest lessor companies in the world, to well-known ground handling service providers in Indonesia and other supporting companies and agencies."
The cargo airline said it is collaborating with the Insurtech partners to protect all types of commodities it is transporting.
Meanwhile, Raindo said the end-to-end real-time tracking feature of the company could be accessed through Raindo App, which will be available both on App Store and Play Store.
