Global schedule reliability continued to improve in October after a slight dip in September as congestion eases, according to a report by Sea-Intelligence.
The maritime analyst said in October 2022, schedule reliability improved by 6.6 percentage points month/month and reached 52.0%.
This comes after reliability in ocean freight declined 0.7 percentage points to 45.5% the month prior.
The average delay for vessels has also been improving.
Sea Intelligence said in October, the average delay improved once again, dropping by another -0.31 days month/month to 5.56 days.
"The average delay for late vessel arrivals has also been improving consistently since the start of the year," said Alan Murphy, CEO, Sea-Intelligence.
"Average delay is now consistently below the 6-day mark and is closer to the 2020 level than the 2021 one," Murphy added.
Sea-Intel: Maersk continues to be the most reliable
For the month, Sea Intelligence said in its report that Maersk was the most reliable carrier in October 2022 with a schedule reliability of 56.4%.
The liner was followed by MSC with 52.7% and CMA CGM — which is the only other carrier above 50%.
"The remaining carriers were very close to each other, all recording schedule reliability of 40%-50%," Sea Intelligence added, noting that Wan Hai recorded the lowest schedule reliability of 41.6%.
"All of the top 14 carriers recorded a month/month as well as a year/year improvement in schedule reliability," the report added.
"In fact, all of these carriers recorded double-digit year/year improvements, with 9 of those carriers recording improvements of over 20 percentage points," it said.
