FedEx Express has expanded its trans-Tasman service with a new connection between Christchurch, Auckland, and Melbourne to provide more cargo capacity amid increased demands.
The five-times-a-week express service between New Zealand and Australia will begin on July 4 — adding to the five existing Sydney to Auckland flights per week.
"Our strengthened Trans-Tasman service connects to more cities in Australia, improving access to Melbourne and Christchurch, and offers more cargo capacity to support increasing service demands," FedEx said.
It added that the enhanced service will also present new trading opportunities for business through better connections to the rest of the world.
"We are delighted to inform you that effective July 4, 2022, FedEx will enhance Trans-Tasman service to improve its value proposition to customers in Australia and New Zealand. Connecting Christchurch, Auckland, and Melbourne five times weekly will provide additional capacity while improving cut-off and transit times," FedEx announced, noting that the service will also improve transit times between the destinations.
FedEx noted that the new service will also further boost the transport of e-commerce, healthcare, automotive, agricultural and critical spare parts shipments between Australia and New Zealand.
