Cargolux has named Tom Weisgerber as the new Chairman of the Board.

The announcement came as Europe's biggest all-cargo airline said that Christianne Wickler has decided to step down from her position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cargolux Airlines International SA at the Annual General Meeting of the company, to be held on April 26, 2023.

Wickler is the first female Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cargolux, appointed in April 2021.

"Wickler's decision to vacate her position is due to her decision to devote more of her time to her business activities, considering the current challenging economic environment," the Luxembourgian flag carrier cargo airline said in a brief announcement.

"The company wishes to express its sincere thanks and appreciation to Wickler for her dedication and commitment as Chairman of the Board of Directors and to the airline," it added.

Accordingly, Cargolux said the shareholders have unanimously decided to propose the appointment of Tom Weisgerber as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Board of Directors meeting to be held, after the Annual General Meeting, on April 26.

Cargolux, based in Luxembourg, is Europe's leading all-cargo airline operating a fleet of 30 Boeing 747-8 freighters and Boeing 747-400 freighters.
