Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the opening of its new ONE Green Office in Singapore which was designed and conceptualized as an educational, interactive, and collaborative space for the shipping company's green initiatives.

In a statement, ONE said the new office, where its global Green Strategy Department and South Asia regional headquarters are now based, is an extension of ONE's Global Headquarters. 

"We are fully committed to strengthening Singapore's position as a Global Hub Port and International Maritime Centre for all players in the ecosystem to thrive and succeed. We are appreciative of the opportunity to partner with ONE throughout their journey – from when they started operations in Singapore, until today, as ONE expands its footprints here in decarbonization, manpower development, and maritime innovation and digitalization," said Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport, Chee Hong Tat, is also guest-of-honour at the July 4 event.

For his part, Jeremy Nixon, ONE CEO noted how the shipping line along with the Singapore Government and other industry players are all doing their part to promote sustainability. 

ONE noted that the new satellite office will host a number of GHQ and RHQ functions. Specifically, ONE's Green Strategy, Technical, and Ship Management departments. As well as our South Asia RHQ team, overseeing 27 countries regionally.

Net- zero goal by 2050

ONE noted that with the vision of being a global leader in the realization of environmentally sustainable shipping, and a target to reach net zero by 2050, sustainability is ONE's top management agenda.

It added that ONE's "The New Green Strategy," focuses on seven key initiatives centred on decarbonization and the environment — a multi-faceted approach that enables the company to consider and plan the various steps that need to be taken, alongside our industry partners to achieve our sustainability goals.

So far, ONE said it was able to achieve some key milestones such as the launch of an environmentally friendly barge service, the launch of the ONEOcean project as well as the signing of a shipping contract for 10 very large container ships which will be alternative fuel ready.
